Seminar - EEMS Hybrid Technology for Motorsport

10th December 2008

Location
Silverstone Innovation Centre
Further information:

Summary

The aim of this seminar is to disseminate the latest knowledge, explore opportunities for the motorsport industry and to promote the Energy Efficient Motorsport message to delegates.

Our EEMS Campaign Partners will have priority booking until 28 November 2008. Non-Campaign Partners can register their interest, and will receive an acknowledgment by return, and we will confirm non-Campaign Partner registration after the 28th. If places are still available, we will issue an invitation to the wider motorsport industry and media. We have 40 delegate places. We may have to limit the number of delegates to two from any one organisation until we are sure we have space.

The outline programme is on 'details'. We will present on the hybrid systems and their present applications and then how they could be applied to motorsport, and conversely what motorsport could do to accelerate and showcase the development.

Hybrid technologies are now available on several mass-production vehicles. However, their use in motorsport has to date been limited, with only one team currently competing in a series otherwise made up of standard-engined vehicles. Furthermore, this is an area where the mass-market has so far been the proving ground for these technologies rather than in the motorsport arena, as is often the case with other powertrain innovations.

The communication aim is to explore the relationship between the use of hybrid/KERS technologies in motorsport and the wider automotive industry, while also highlighting potential new applications in the motorsport industry and discussing the latest technological developments.

The new Le Mans regulations are allowing for hybrids from 2009. How does hybrid technology fit into the wider motorsport mix? Which systems will work in motorsport? How can they be adapted to competition? What can the motorsport industry contribute to accelerate the development of hybrid technology for other industries?

There is also opportunity for networking during the lunch and tea breaks.
