£100 million fund to drive UK innovation forward
DTI have announced a further £100 million for UK business to research and develop new technologies.
The Collaborative R&D competition, part of the DTI-led Technology Programme, will provide funding to the most innovative, marketable projects which will boost the UK economy.
The Spring 2007 competition opens on 24 April 2007 and contains several areas of direct relevance to the motorsport industry:
- £40 million for advanced manufacturing projects - including design engineering technology to boost competitiveness and sustainability
- £15 million for energy technologies - both renewable low-carbon options and ensuring the continued production of hydrocarbon reserves
- £15 million for lightweight materials
To find out more, come along to the Technology Strategy Board dissemination event on 20 April 2007 at the National Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham. This event will include detailed information on the collaborative R&D competition and the key technology areas. To further help motorsport companies, EEMS will be running a specific motorsport networking workshop in the afternoon following the main programme. This will be an excellent opportunity to identify potential partners that can help motorsport companies to benefit from this major support opportunity.
