Business F1 faces further libel suit
23rd June 2006
The London, UK published Business F1 magazine is facing another libel law suit, which has been brought against it by Richard Woods the publicity director of the FIA, the governing body of international motorsport.
Woods is seeking damages totaling more than $550,000 for alleged libel in an article titled "The Propagandist" and is also asking for an injunction to ban any repetition of the allegations.
The magazine and its publisher and editor Tom Rubython lost a similar case in August 2005 in which FIA consultant Alan Donnelly won damages of $15,000 and costs of $210,000. In May 2006 Tony Purnell, the former head of the Jaguar Racing Formula One team won damages of $138,000 and costs of $386,000 when the magazines allegations that he had bribed a journalist were judged to be false.
