E85 under consideration for 2008 British Rally Championship

27th July 2007

The organisers of the British Rally Championship are considering introducing a class for cars using E85 bioethanol fuel in 2008.

BRC manager Mark Taylor told the UK’s Autosport magazine that E85 was under consideration as part of the BRC’s commitment to sustainable motorsport. Taylor said, “E85 is very interesting and having a [Ford] Fiesta doing 25mpg on a stage is preferable to other cars doing 3mpg. We are looking at other alternatives to E85 – we want to get this right, not just jump on the bandwagon.”
